ASL | English Titled | Audio Described Performances

Native Earth Performing Arts is pleased to have included ASL Interpreted, Audio Described, Open Captioned and otherwise accessible performances to those who identify as Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and Blind/Low-Vision.

Native Earth feels passionate about addressing barriers that exist not only between cultures, but also within cultures. As the managing company of the Aki Studio Theatre,  we are responsible to diverse communities and individuals with a variety of abilities.

Our goal is to allow everyone to access, enjoy and participate in the creative work being presented.

During our 2013/2014 Season, and with the support of the Trillium Foundation, and the guidance of Rose Jacobson at Picasso Pro we connected with Community Consultants.  Elizabeth Morris, as a Deaf Community Consultant, and Wanda Fitzgerald, as a Blind Community Consultant, guided us in our public materials, customer services and overall implementation.

We are happy to have worked with Kat Germain and Rebecca Singh as Audio Describers, Amanda Hyde as an ASL interpreter and performer, and the students of George Brown as ASL volunteer ushers.
