Choreographer Kevin A. Ormsby and Chris Walker joins forces in the production FACING Home: Love & Redemption, a contemporary dance production that investigates the global impact of Bob Marley’s music—its expression of humanity’s struggle and it’s inspiration toward love, redemption and hope—and the active, deep-rooted homophobia in Jamaican/West Indian Culture. The concert, which is set to covers of Bob Marley’s songs by Matisyahou (NY) Luciano (Jamaica), Jonathon Butler (South Africa) and others.

“We’re inviting audiences to ask themselves ‘when did you first hear Marley’s music?’ and ‘when did they first fall in love? said Ormsby, “and we hope audiences fall in love all over again while thinking about love and redemption in light of the real stigmas of homosexuality.”

“This work faces the paradox that is the West Indian preaching of liberation we find in Marley’s music,” said Chris Walker, Associate Professor of Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison,

I wanna love you and treat you right..is this love, is this love that I am feeling?

Running time is 90 minutes
