Based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
The dark tale of two siblings who embark on an adventure to feed their growling tummies, and whose fates take a turn for the worse when they come across the evil witch who tempts them with the fantasy of fulfillment.
The classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale Hänsel & Gretel originates from the medieval times of famine, warning young innocents of the dangers beyond an impoverished life.
The production features a stellar cast of emerging, Toronto-based talent led by music director Blair Salter, along with talented members of the Canadian Children’s Opera Company.
With a new production concept by director Alison Wong, Metro Youth Opera turns Hänsel & Gretel into a modern day fable where our two young heroes must face the realities of their own urbanized world.
All three performances will will be presented in the Aki Studio Theatre in beautiful, new Daniels Spectrum Building at 585 Dundas Street East in Regent Park.
