Troy Emery Twigg

Troy is from the Kainai Nation in Southern Alberta. He works as an actor and dancer, but is primarly an artist in movement, choreogrpahy, and staging, mostly creating his own works which have been presented nationally and internationally: IitahpoyiiThey Shoot Buffalo, Don’t They?Dancing the Universe in Flux; Pulse; and Static. Troy was one of the original visionaries and founding artists of the groundbreaking Making Treaty 7 theatrical event. He is the co-director of the young people’s theatre version of Quest Theatre and Making Treaty 7’s We Are All Treaty People.

Recently he has worked with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Swallow A Bicycle Theatre, The Prairie Dance Exchange, and the groundbreaking Iiniskimm puppet project. He has co-curated an exhibition called “By Invitation Only: Dance, Confederation and Reconciliation” for Dance Collection Danse. He has recently acted in Omari Newton’s The Lamentable Tragedy of Sal Capone at the National Arts Centre, and in lemonTree Creations, Why Not Theatre, and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre’s production of Lilies; Or The Revival of the Romantic Drama.
