Valerie Planche

This is Valerie’s 1st show with Soulpepper Theatre and Native Earth. She is based in Calgary Alberta and is excited to join these incredible colleagues in bringing this story to life!

Valerie Planche is an actor, director, and arts educator of mixed French/European/Cree heritage, with over 35 years’ experience on Stage and in Film and Television, in classical, contemporary, and new play development.

As an actor, Valerie has performed across Canada and in the US, garnering Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards, numerous Betty Mitchell Awards, as well as an Alberta Film and Television Nomination for Best Performance by an Actress.

As a director, she has collaborated on several Canadian premiers. She has also been awarded the Michelle Dias Award from Theatre Alberta 2018; the Gina Wilkinson Prize in 2015 from the Shaw Festival; a Betty Mitchell Award for Best Director for Bad Jews, and nominations for Best Production for Sweat, Bad Jews, and Thy Neighbor’s Wife.
