Unsettled Scores explores historical and contemporary issues through the performing arts and community engagement. Co-founded in 2006 by Spy Dénommé-Welch and Catherine Magowan, Unsettled Scores (formerly An Indie[n] Rights Reserve) have created solo, chamber, orchestral and opera compositions, as well as theatrical and multimedia works.
Canoe is a tale of transformation that revolves around the lives of eccentric sisters, Constance and Gladys, and the flood that consumes their world. From the creators of Giiwedin and Contraries, Canoe blends Indigenous oral tradition with neo-baroque and jazz/blues motifs to create a unique operatic performance.
This work is composed by collaborators Spy Dénommé-Welch
and Catherine Magowan, and set to a story/libretto
by Spy Dénommé-Welch.
