Nova Courchene

“Nova Courchene is a vibrant Anishniaabe-kwe Arts Administrator dedicated to making theatre accessible to Indigenous youth and Indigenous communities. She has been involved in music for most her life and studies concert flute through the Royal Conservatory of Music,. She has spent the past 7 years working at developing her administrative skills, and worked independently with musicians and in theatre organizations.

Currently situating herself in Winnipeg where her parents are originally from Nova works two positions. In a capacity as the Indigenous Language Resource Development in the Indigenous Way of Life department at Frontier School Division where she designs and renders digital illustrations for Indigenous Language classroom resources in print form.

She also holds a part-time position as the Assistant Director at the Native Youth Theatre program, run out of Manitoba Theatre for Young People. She ensures that the program operates, and participates in finding opportunities for capacity building with MTYP management.”
