DEER WOMAN

Deer Woman is a warrior woman work of righteous vengeance.

At the loss of her baby sister, Lila seeks to avenge the murder while exercising the skills the Canadian government trained into her. This is a sister piece to In Spirit which presents the voice of a young missing and murdered girl, Deer Woman is the story of a sister left behind.

TARA BEAGAN
Tara is a proud Ntlaka’pamux and Irish “Canadian” halfbreed, a Dora nominated playwright, and a Dora and Betty nominated actor. Beagan served as the Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts (2011-2013), and has been in residence at Cahoots Theatre, Native Earth, the National Arts Centre and Berton House. She is the co-founder/director of ARTICLE 11, currently based in Mohkintsis (Calgary), with her most cherished collaborator, Andy Moro.

THE SEVENTH FIRE

Filmic in nature and mythic in proportion, The Seventh Fire tells the story of a woman’s return to the Ojibwe community which she believes has rejected her. She discovers her destiny is tied to prophesy when she becomes pivotal to the community’s survival.

The Seventh Fire was also developed at Playwrights Theatre Centre as part of the PTC Associates program.

Lisa Ravensbergen is an Ojibwe/Swampy Cree and English/Irish multi-hyphenate theatre artist, writer, and Jessie-nominated actor who lives on unceded Coast Salish Territory.
